Lets keep talking about mental health
I think its so important for us all to keep talking about this issue and raising awareness where possible.
I still know of so many people who feel like they cant talk about their issues or if they do they will be judged for it or made to feel silly. Sadly I am also hearing stories of people who actually go to a professional to seek help and don't necessarily get taken seriously. If anyone has experienced this then please don't give up. I have had doctors I don't go to because they made me feel like I was just "stressed" or there was nothing wrong. I have also been to therapists who, quite frankly, just weren't for me. I have had old friends and family members tell me to "get over it" or just "be happy". Its not an "on/off" switch, as I'm sure many of us wish it was that easy.
Most people just don't understand, and don't know what to say. But don't let this put you off trying to talk to people. Talking about these issues really really do help! Even if its just to get yourself the help you need.
One of my anxiety conditions is a compulsive skin picking disorder, a form of self harm (even though I don't consciously do it to harm myself) and stems from anxiety and depression triggers. I thought that no-one else had this. When I finally plucked up the courage to talk to people about it, I was made to feel like my condition wasn't "normal" or "common". In fact I actually saw an article a year or so ago about a girl who experienced exactly the same thing as me, and she had chosen to release her story to a magazine and it was so comforting to hear that I wasn't alone.
Just because you don't know of anyone immediately who feels this way, doesn't mean there aren't people around you who are. A lot of people suffer in silence and sometimes all it takes is someone to bring up for the subject for them to feel comfortable to reveal this.
You should also not feel like you are different or not normal. Mental illness is an illness like any other, and it needs to be addressed and treated in the same manner as we would for other illnesses or conditions.
Please if you are going through anything, try to talk to someone about it. I guarantee it will be the first step to brighter days.
